Professionals are shunning higher wages in southern cities and choosing to work in Brisbane because of its sunny disposition.
Workers in marketing and creative industries are flocking to the river city, with an expected revenue growth set to follow, a salary monitoring survey showed.
The Aquent Survey found Brisbane is the preferred work destination, Aquent chief executive officer Greg Savage said “Brisbane is a thriving employment market poised for long term growth and prosperity”, Mr Savage said.
Seventy-nine per cent of Brisbane companies surveyed predicting revenue growing in the coming year.
“Interstate candidates appear willing to compromise salary in return for lifestyle and other non-monetary benefits,” he said.
“Equally, employers are generally open to offering relocation packages to attract interstate candidates particularly for senior positions.”
In the past two years large advertising agencies have set up shop in Brisbane.
The river city has a lower turnover of staff than other capital cities, but it remains fairly high at 32 percent in marketing, 33 percent in creative and 42 percent turnover in business support. |
