Sydney, Australia (August 6, 2004)—Aquent, a global, specialist staffing firm that delivers total staffing, search, and outsourcing solutions for the marketing, communications and creative industries, has made available the findings of its Asia Pacific Salary Monitor2004-2005.

Greg Savage, Aquent Asia Pacific CEO, provides a perspective on revenue increase for the next 12 months. “ Australia ’s economy has been a standout in the Asia Pacific region. The results of this survey bear witness to the uniform optimism across all three major Australian cities. Over 80% of the companies we surveyed anticipate increased revenue in the coming months,” he said. “Growing corporate profits across Australia , flowing on to increased Advertising and Marketing budgets, are driving this positive state of mind and no doubt, we are seeing the knock-on effect in salaries and hiring intentions.”

After years of declining permanent staff numbers, the Advertising industry in Sydney is back in hiring Mode. “77% of Sydney employers are planning hire permanent staff and we can expect this demand to soak up quality supply of Talent,” said Savage. “Strong hiring intentions are also predicted in the Creative industry, where 61% of employers plan to hire permanent staff. Most growth will come from the print creative environment, but we are seeing some increase in hiring professionals with web expertise.”

“The use of temporary and contract staff is a well-worn strategy in Australia , and the Marketing, Communications and Creative industries are keen users of these services,” explains Savage. “In Sydney , Creative and Advertising staff are called in on an assignment basis by over 80% of employers in a variety of situations, including, quite senior levels. And no decline is in sight. In fact, 35% of companies in Sydney plan to increase the use of freelance and contract staff in the next 12 months”.

A total of 975 face-to-face surveys across the Asia Pacific region were completed for the Salary Monitor, which provides accurate salary information for hundreds of staff categories. In addition, detailed statistics on revenue growth, predicted permanent and contract hiring trends, as well as anticipated salary increase, make this Salary Monitor an indispensable management tool for any decision-maker operating in the Marketing, Communications and Creative sectors.
