Description of Project:
To meet the needs of an important contract with the Library of Congress (LOC), CACI, a provider of professional services and IT solutions to the U.S. federal government, required a variety of talent in web design, development, information architecture, and support. They chose Aquent for information architecture, technical project management, and web design and development.
The Aquent team worked on site at LOC to support the development of its Electronic Deposit for Electronic Journals program, a collaborative effort by three units of LOC: the U.S. Copyright Office, Library Services and the Office of Strategic Initiatives. The program, known as eDeposit for eJournals is a strategic effort to build a robust electronic copyright deposit system for the acquisition of electronic content by the library. That work included building an in-house production repository for the acquisition and preservation of digital content.
The effort is a critical one for LOC to enable it to maintain and grow its collection of electronic journals. The Aquent team assisted LOC staff by bringing in significant skills in the architecture and development of web applications and sites.
