The Production Artist utilizes graphic design technology and computer software packages to produce materials for promotions, packaging and informative and instructional materials. Originates art and copy layouts and determines style, size and arrangement of type and illustrations. Works collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
Essential Functions:
Creates high quality designs for our marketing collateral. Applies knowledge of layout, typography and style sheets within designs.
Creates and maintains campaign designs with a consistent look, feel, and tone from creative concepting to final production.
Maintains attention to detail. Demonstrates a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines.
Demonstrates ability to prioritize and manage time and workload effectively and efficiently (works on multiple projects simultaneously)
Makes redline edits from proofreading marks
Maintains internal naming conventions, digital file organization as well as follow internal processes.
Prepares and sets up files for final output for commercial printers (proper use of bleeds, folds, panel sizes, and gutters) as well as upload files to FTP site.
Produces clean mockups for presentations.
Keeps apprised of design trends and methodologies
Performs other duties as assigned
Education:
An Associate's Degree in graphic art/design, art or related field. A Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience: 3+ years of experience in a design environment (agency or in-house). Experienced in a print and pre-press production environment a plus.
Licenses/Certifications: N/A
Special Skills (e.g. 2nd language):
Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented with clear understanding of overall objectives
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, within a tight deadline environment without compromising creativity
High attention to detail and ownership of work
Ability to demonstrative creative thinking for design layout and art work
Technical Skills/Requirements:
Proficient in Macintosh computer skills with the following programs: InDesign, QuarkXpress (use of style sheets), Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Web development, illustration and/or advanced Photoshop skills a plus.
