Position Description
Our client, a leading national organization, is looking for a talented Web Designer to join their growing team on a contract ot hire basis (wiling to pay relo for right candidate). The Web Designer will concentrate on the development of graphical user interfaces (GUI) associated with various internet and intranet sites and applications, with a primary focus of positive user experience (UX) and clear display of system function, task and/or workflow. Special attention may also be placed on advanced presentation layer methods including dynamic display of content and use of rich media (audio, video and animation technologies.)
Responsibilities
Collaborates in the definition and application of user interface design standards for applications, to optimize usability and achieve an integrated and consistent look and feel.Works closely with product managers, development teams and other internal stakeholders to identify and understand the business objectives which support project goals, while advocating user experience best practice principles. Collaborates with designers and developers in building storyboards, proof-of-concept mockups, demos and prototypes of proposed application and web site navigation, layouts and interaction behaviors. Develops original graphic design or reworking of existing graphics, including the ability to work within existing style standards.Presents design work to development team, project team, programming team, management, and business partners for review and feedback. Assists in the development of complex user interfaces for a variety of applications and web sites and applications requiring knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.Contributes to the company's overall GUI/UX maturity, including creating and refining standard processes, and developing tools and templates that can be applied company-wide.Qualifications
Strong understanding of web navigation and web user experience principles.Thorough knowledge of user interface design technologies including the Adobe Creative Suite; specifically, Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator and Dreamweaver.Strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high or low fidelity prototypes and user interface concepts within time constraints. Understanding of well-optimized graphics and how they relate to the quality of web based output.Understanding of the Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh O/S and Office Suite. Understanding new internet trends and technology is necessary.Ability to communicate complex information to team members by demonstrating good judgment in selecting the proper mode of communication, good listening skills, and effective writing.Education and Experience RequiredBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Advertising, Human Computer Interaction or equivalent experience.3 years of experience in web design / development, with specific expertise with web-based applications.
